Some time ago, you created an amazing sales presentation. You’ve presented it to customers live, and you’ve seen it resonate.
It might be a while before you have your next chance to present it in person. But that doesn’t mean you can’t put it to good use.
In this post, we’ll discover 9 creative ways to repurpose the presentations you design to fuel your content marketing and social media efforts.
Why repurpose your presentations?
Here are a few key reasons to repurposes your presentations:
- Tap into a new audience
People who view presentations on SlideShare, are different from those who watch videos on YouTube. Repurposing content lets you engage different groups of people with the content marketing formats they prefer. - Breathe new life into your quality presentations
Repurposing your older presentation gives you the opportunity to update it, give it a fresh perspective, and put it in front of people who might have missed it the first time around. - Reduce creation time
Repurposing your content means that you don’t have to start from scratch when it’s time for your next piece. You’ve already got a head start.
1. Publish your Presentation to SlideShare
Publishing your deck on SlideShare instantly expands your potential audience from a roomful of people to the 80 million people who visit SlideShare.
This presentation has already been viewed more than 5,000 times, with almost no promotion on my part.
It’s a presentation about designing presentations. Very meta, I know. We’ll be using it as an example throughout this post.
2. Turn your Presentation Into a Blog Post
Once you’ve built your presentation and posted it to SlideShare, you can write a blog post about it and embed the SlideShare in the post. I did that here.
I’ve created several other posts from presentations, including two about famous quotes: one with entrepreneurship quotes and another featuring funny business quotes. In both cases, I embedded the individual slides as images in the post as well. More on that in a minute.
3. Save your Presentation as Individual Images
Once you’ve created your deck, it can be very useful to save it as individual images. PowerPoint makes this a very simple task. If you’re using the Windows version, just Save As a jpg or png. On Mac, you’ll want to use the Export feature.
Exporting your slides as images can be useful in many ways. You can embed the images in a blog post, as described above, or use them as feature images for your posts.
You can also use them to gain visibility on your social channels. Pin them to your Pinterest boards, or make your social posts more attention-grabbing.
Here are a few quote slides that I repurposed for my social channels.

4. Transform your Presentation into an Infographic
Infographics are a powerful content marketing tactic. We love to design infographics, but the creation process can be quite involved.
If you’ve designed a deck with a consistent look and feel, you can efficiently repurpose it as an infographic. It can be as simple as joining your slide images from end to end.
We produced the infographic (at left) from our presentation.
5. Create an Animated GIF
Although gifs have been around for years, they’re enjoying a rebirth among brands looking to boost their social media engagement on platforms like Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
If you have a presentation, you can easily create a gif from slides you save as images. Free tools like ezgif.com make it a cinch. Here’s a gif I created from my presentation:
You could also use a tool like Gifdeck.in to convert your SlideShare presentation into a GIF.

6. Produce a Slideshow
Another way to get more mileage from your deck is to build a slideshow, complete with the background music of your choice.
7. Create a Webinar
Webinars are an excellent way to flex your public-speaking muscle in front of a broader group of people, who like the convenience of hearing what you have to say from the comfort of their home or office. If you’ve already got a great deck, you’re halfway there.
Hosting a webinar used to require expensive software. Today, Google removes the cost barrier with its free Hangouts communication platform. Find out how to host your own Webinar, with Techbloke’s step-by-step guide to hosting a webinar with Google Hangouts.
8. Produce a Video
In his article “the Rise of Video Marketing on Social and How it Affects your Business,” entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuck drives home the need to make video part of your content strategy.
“No matter what you’re selling, no matter what your company does, if you don’t have a video marketing strategy for the biggest video platforms, you are going to lose,” says Vaynerchuck. He goes on to highlight the major shifts that have occurred in recent years in the platforms used to distribute video content. It’s no longer just about YouTube or Vimeo. Video viewing on Facebook and Twitter has gained serious traction.
Capitalize on these trends by repurposing your presentations as explainer videos. You can either record yourself giving a webinar, or simply export your presentation to video. If you have the Windows version of PowerPoint you can do that in a few simple steps. There are also a number of converters that can help you with the task.
9. Produce a Podcast
Another great way to leverage the work you put into creating your presentation is to repurpose it as a podcast. If you’ve written a script for your presentation, then it may be as simple as recording yourself reading it.
To publish only a single audio session to your site, your simplest option is to save your audio file as an mp3 and embed it on your site. If you’re on WordPress, using the Add Media feature will add a cute little player like the one at right (which I’ve set up with a cute little jazz piece to keep you company for the rest of this post).
If you have more ambitious plans for your podcast, then you can learn from one of the present-day masters of podcasting. In his step-by-step podcasting tutorial, online entrepreneur and thought leader Pat Flynn tells you everything you’ll need to know about producing and publishing podcasts.
Over To You
I hope you’ll experiment with these different ways to get more mileage out of your PowerPoints. You can use these techniques on presentations that already exist. Better still: plan ahead.
If you know in advance how you’ll be repurposing your presentation, you’ll inevitably take a smarter approach to your planning and execution, and save time and effort along the way.
